Clean the Sky – Bio-Based Auto Interiors

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

Kia’s EV2 concept electric SUV represents a significant leap forward in sustainable automotive design as the model showcases an innovative interior constructed almost entirely from bio-based and recycled materials. At Milan Design Week 2025, the automaker revealed cabin components made from unconventional sources, including hemp fibers, mushroom-derived mycelium, flax composites, and cellulose-based textiles.

The interior of Kia’s EV2 interior features Simplifyber Fybron panels created through a liquid molding process that skips traditional weaving, mycelium-infused polyurethane surfaces with visible organic textures, and AmpliTex flax fiber composites that replace synthetic materials in structural elements like seat frames. Beyond its material innovations, the
SUV introduces thoughtful design features including configurable seating that transforms into a lounge space, integrated audio systems within headrests, and pedestrian-aware lighting communications.

Kia’s EV2 concept demonstrates a comprehensive approach to reducing the environmental impact of vehicle manufacturing.
