Cask-Strength Tequila Expressions : Pantera de Oro

Pantera de Oro enters the California spirits market with its inaugural release of a cask-strength Extra Añejo tequila. This expression is distinguished through several notable production choices, including an extended three-year aging process in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The company bottles the spirit at a robust 53% ABV to preserve flavor complexity.

Pantera de Oro’s decision to utilize fourth and fifth-fill casks for the Extra Añejo tequila demonstrates a thoughtful approach to achieving balanced oak influence without overwhelming the agave character. The expression was produced at NOM 1608 (Los Valores). This, combined with the careful blending of traditional stone oven and modern autoclave cooking methods, reflects a hybrid approach to artisanal tequila making.

With initial distribution focused on select California Costco locations and specialty retailers, Pantera de Oro appears to be targeting both value-conscious premium buyers and serious collectors through its one-liter bottle format and accessible price point for the category.
