Californian Modern Office Designs : day job

22RE has transformed a former artist’s studio in Glassell Park into a distinctly Californian LA office for the creative agency Day Job. The 1,800-square-foot workspace blends professional function with a residential atmosphere, using materials such as cherry wood, terracotta, green concrete, and stainless steel. A sunken central area acts as the main workspace, where custom cherry desks and green leather chairs establish an environment that feels both productive and inviting. Spaces are arranged to echo a living room, dining space, and even a bedroom-like conference room, making the office feel more like a home than a traditional workplace.

The exterior maintains a minimal profile with Douglas fir and stucco, while the interior opens to a terrace through pivoting timber-framed doors. The design draws on mid-century Italian, French, and Japanese influences, layering cultural references with a sense of modern comfort. Thoughtful lighting and nods to creative figures such as Ed Ruscha further highlight the blend of creativity and domestic ease.
