The Brutalist writer-director Brady Corbet, Pillion filmmaker Harry Lighton and The Iron Lady writer Abi Morgan are among the talent set to participate in the third edition of Storyhouse, Element Pictures’ Dublin-based screenwriting festival.
This year’s event, which is returning to the Irish capital’s Light House Cinema on April 16-17, will also see French filmmaker Audrey Diwan, Bugonia writer Will Tracy and Sorry Baby filmmaker Eva Victor join the festival.
Additional speakers include Big Boys writer Jack Rooke, Mood writer-creator Nicole Lecky, Wild Cherry writer Ava Pickett, who is also co-writing Jehanne d’Arc with Baz Luhrmann, Christy filmaker Brendan Canty and Brides writer Suhayla El-Bushra.
Storyhouse is a not-for-profit initiative spearheaded by Element Pictures producer and co-CEO Ed Guiney. It’s supported by Screen Ireland, Fremantle, Element Pictures, Coimisiún na Meán, Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet and is produced in association with the Light House Cinema.
The festival is positioning itself as a hub for new and established writers and industry professionals to benefit from in-depth interviews, panels and case studies from some of the very best international creators of stories for the screen.
Panels run alongside its Storyhouse Lab, a five-day initiative that connects 15 emerging screenwriters with industry figures under the mentorship of What Richard Did and 500 Miles writer Malcolm Campbell.
Further program details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are delighted that Storyhouse will return for its third year, once again bringing many of the world’s leading and most exciting screenwriters and creators to the heart of Dublin,” said Guiney. “The festival has firmly establish itself as a creative home for writers, a place where artists can learn from one another, develop ideas and find inspiration. This year’s lineup showcases an exciting breadth of voices, genres and perspectives, sure to inspire and fuel a new generation of storytellers.”
