Omrania’s award-winning Water Treatment Complex at King Salman Park represents a transformative approach to urban infrastructure as it effortlessly blends functionality with aesthetic and ecological sensitivity. Recognized with dual honors at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards, the project redefines conventional perceptions of utility spaces by integrating them seamlessly into Riyadh’s largest public park.
The Water Treatment Complex spans 137,000 square meters and combines a potable water plant, sewage treatment facility, and effluent recycling system. All of these functionalities are designed to support the park’s lush urban forest and wadi ecosystems. By employing cutting-edge technologies like ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, the facility processes nearly 200,000 cubic meters of water daily. Stone-clad walls and green roofs disguise utilitarian functions, while shaded pathways invite visitors to explore the site as part of the park’s natural topography.
The design cleverly merges industrial necessity with public engagement.
