Automated Adaptation Safety Belts : multi-adaptive safety belt

The Volvo multi-adaptive safety belt has been announced by the automotive brand as a safety feature inside its vehicles that will work to maximize peace of mind in the event of an accident. The safety belt technology was developed based on the brand’s database of more than 80,000 car crash victims and works with a series of sensors to automatically make adjustments according to the person’s unique shape. This could help to increase safety and also reduce the occurrence of injuries sustained after a crash.

The brand commented on the Volvo multi-adaptive safety belt in a statement explaining, “The new multi-adaptive safety belt can use data input from interior and exterior sensors to customize protection, adapting the setting based on the situation and individual’s profiles, such as their height, weight, body shape and seating position. For example, a larger occupant in a serious crash will receive a higher belt load setting to help reduce the risk of head injury. While a smaller occupant in a milder crash will receive a lower belt load setting to reduce the risk of rib fractures.”
