Woodford Reserve has expanded its experimental Distillery Series with a new offering — a 12-Year-Old American Single Malt Whiskey. This expression diverges from the brand’s typical bourbon production by utilizing a mash bill of entirely malted barley, which is then triple-distilled in copper pot stills.
Woodford Reserve’s spirit was matured for twelve years in previously used whiskey barrels, a conscious decision intended to promote a slower, more nuanced interaction between the whiskey and the wood. The resulting product is bottled at 90.4 proof. It presents a complex profile of sweet malt, caramel, warm spices, and subtle citrus notes.
Woodford Reserve is releasing the 12-Year-Old American Single Malt Whiskey in a limited quantity and exclusively in a 375ml size. The product is primarily available through the distillery and select retailers in Kentucky.
