Queer country artist Adam Mac recently married his partner of eight years, Lee Pfund, in an intimate ceremony in Sedona, Arizona.
“We visited Sedona four years ago on an anniversary trip and completely fell in love with the beauty and energy of the place,” Mac, 35, exclusively told Us Weekly. “When it came time to plan our wedding, it just made sense. We didn’t want anything big — just something deeply personal, just for us.”
The couple decided to have a sunrise wedding and hiked to the top of Baby Bell Rock at 4:45 a.m. so they could begin the ceremony “as the sun was peeking over the horizon.” The couple wrote their own vows, and Mac’s newest single, “Last Rodeo,” was written for Pfund as such.
“I wrote ‘Last Rodeo’ as a way to say everything I knew I’d feel standing across from Lee on our wedding day – no walls, no distractions, just the truth,” Mac told Us. “It’s a love song, yes, but it’s also a thank-you – for choosing me, for staying through the storms and for being my peace.”
The single, which is now available to stream, is accompanied by a music video filmed by Ford Fairchild, with clips from the couple’s wedding. The pair said they knew early on that they were “each other’s forever person,” and have long “felt married in spirit,” but felt it necessary to get married now because of the current political climate.
“With everything going on in the world, we felt like it was the perfect time to stand strong in our love and celebrate it out loud,” Mac said. “We already felt like life partners — but now it is official.”
Mac and Pfund wore pinstripe western-style suits from H Bar C. with a bolero cropped blazer and chainstitch button-down, also from H Bar C. They styled the outfits with custom bolos that they made themselves along with vintage belt buckles. Their rings were created by the sustainable brand Brilliant Earth.
In the coming months, the couple plan on having a reception in Nashville for their family and friends. For their honeymoon plans, they want to travel to the U.K. and Italy, as neither of them have been to Europe but are “really excited to see all the things and explore.”
