Elisabeth Moss Almost Turned Down The Handmaid’s Tale

Blessed be Elisabeth Moss‘ change of heart.

Before becoming known for her role as June in The Handmaid’s Tale, Moss revealed she seriously considered turning down the offer to star in Hulu’s Emmy-winning adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s dystopian book series.

“That was a unique situation,” the 43-year-old reflected during a Watch What Happens Live interview March 22. “That was right after Mad Men—it’s was literally right after—and I wasn’t expecting to do another series so quickly because I had done that for nine years. So, it was just a very quick, ‘Wow, we’re doing that! And we’re signing that contract,’ kind of thing.”

So, what forced the Golden Globe winner to reconsider taking the job?

“I almost turned it down and then they threatened me with who they were going to ask next,” Moss continued before telling host Andy Cohen, “I will tell you after, but I will not tell any of you. And I was like, ‘No, way!'”
