Action movies aren’t just popular on Netflix — they’re often the most popular films on the streamer.
Case in point, Nobody 2 went straight to the top of Netflix’s movie chart despite having a disappointing reception in theaters.
That streaming blockbuster is now one of Watch With Us‘ picks for the three most popular Netflix movies right now that you need to watch.
Our remaining selections include an underrated thriller and an unconventional horror film in a big franchise with even bigger names in the cast.
‘Nobody 2’ (2025)
You may notice that the early plot of Nobody 2 isn’t all that different from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Like Chevy Chase‘s Clark Griswold, Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) just wants to bond with his family during a trip to a nostalgic theme park. Hutch’s life as an assassin has been taking its toll on his relationship with his wife, Becca Mansell (Connie Nielsen), and their kids, Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath).
It sure would be nice if Hutch could go a few days without killing someone, but they never make sequels about the boring days of someone’s life. In practically no time at all, Hutch and his family will have all the trouble they can handle. The corrupt local sheriff, Abel (Colin Hanks), wants them dead, and his crime boss, Lendina (Sharon Stone), is even more ruthless than he is. It’s their funeral, because anyone who messes with Hutch’s family is asking for an early grave.
Nobody 2 is streaming on Netflix.
‘The Captive’ (2014)
The Captive practically disappeared upon its release in 2014 despite boasting an A-list cast. That’s probably why this film is currently experiencing a resurgence on Netflix. The story unfolds in a non-linear way, but it follows a handful of different characters who are connected in the past and present over eight years.
Matthew Lane (Ryan Reynolds) and his estranged wife, Tina (Mireille Enos), are haunted by the kidnapping of their daughter, Cassandra (Alexia Fast), and the uncertainty of what happened to her years later. As Matthew begins taking the law into his own hands, the police detectives who originally investigated Cassandra’s disappearance, Jeffrey Cornwall (Scott Speedman) and Nicole Dunlop (Rosario Dawson), get closer than ever to a breakthrough as they look into a human trafficking ring that takes an interest in Nicole herself.
The Captive is streaming on Netflix.
‘Spiral’ (2021)
If you’re familiar with the work of Chris Rock, then you know that he rarely ventures into more serious films like Spiral. Rock actually pushed for Spiral to be made because he wanted to be a part of the Saw franchise, even if this film is separate from the others. Spiral takes place in the same world as the Saw movies, and someone is killing cops using the same methodology that the Jigsaw Killer did in those films.
Suspicion soon falls on Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Rock) because every single officer who is targeted by the killer is connected to Zeke in some way. It’s not a spoiler to say that Zeke isn’t the killer, but he has more than just his own safety to worry about. His father, former police chief Marcus Banks (Samuel L. Jackson), is also on the copycat killer’s radar, and that may prove to be quite deadly for the elder Banks.
