5 Most Anticipated New HBO Max Shows of Spring 2026, Ranked

If you’re looking for new HBO Max shows this spring, the streamer won’t keep you waiting for long.

The Comeback season 3 will premiere on HBO Max just a few days after the official start of spring, and everything else will follow after.

Watch With Us has taken a look at the upcoming schedule and chosen the five most anticipated new HBO Max shows of spring 2026.

Three of the chosen series are returning HBO original series, while the remaining two are British co-productions featuring some familiar faces.

5. ‘War’ (2026)

HBO has committed to war, or at least to the legal drama that shares its name. War is an anthology that will have a single story in the first season before starting over when season 2 arrives. For season 1, a divorce is brewing between movie star Carla Duval  (Sienna Miller) and her ridiculously rich husband, Morgan Henderson (Dominic West), who made his fortune as a tech entrepreneur.

That battle will play out in court and in the court of public opinion as Serena Byrne (Phoebe Fox) and Nicholas Taylor (James McArdle) take on a rival firm, Cathcarts, which is run by Beatrice Ubosi (Nina Sosanya) and St. John Smallwood (Pip Torrens). But only one side can win.

War will stream on HBO Max in 2026.

4. ‘Half Man’ (2026)

For his follow-up to Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd created and stars in HBO Max’s upcoming miniseries, Half Man. Gadd plays Ruben, the “brother” of Niall (Jamie Bell), who crashes the latter’s wedding before a fight breaks out between them. The show’s description hints that Niall and Ruben aren’t actually brothers at all, or possibly only  half-siblings.

HBO has had a reputation for creating the best shows on TV for decades. HBO Max may have diluted the brand, but that reputation is largely intact. Some shows like And Just Like That have proven to be more popular as hate-watches, but there have already been some great HBO Max series this year that […]

The show will jump back and forth across the span of 40 years, from the 1980s when Niall and Ruben met as teenagers to the present, where they can’t seem to be able to stay in the same room for any length of time.

Half Man will stream on HBO Max in April.

3. ‘The Comeback’ (2005, 2014, 2026)

What does it take to mount a successful comeback in Hollywood? If Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) knew the answer to that, there wouldn’t have been a decade-long hiatus between each season of this show. For the third and final season of The Comeback, Valerie finally has her comeback vehicle as the star of How’s That?, her own sitcom three decades after the show that made her a star.

This time, Valerie is woefully unprepared for stardom in a world where her sitcom writers have already been replaced by AI. Valerie’s husband, Mark Berman (Damian Young), has always put up with her comeback schemes, but this is the one that may really test his patience and their bond. If history is any indication, Valerie’s latest comeback will suffer the same fate as her previous attempts to become relevant again.

The Comeback season 3 will stream on HBO Max on March 22.

2. ‘Hacks’ (2021 – Present)

Hacks has been one of the few HBO Max original series to breakout into the mainstream as series star Jean Smart completed her comeback with multiple Emmy Awards. There’s one last season to look forward to, but a happy ending is far from assured for Deborah Vance (Smart) and her co-dependent comedy writer, Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder).

Deborah and Ava were at odds about the latter’s late-night talk show, but they left the program in a show of unity after being ordered to compromise their beliefs. Now, Deborah and Ava’s career prospects are worse than ever, but the former still plans to make at least one more comeback with the latter riding her coattails to the end.

Hacks season 5 will stream on HBO Max in spring 2026.

1. ‘Euphoria’ (2019 – Present)

There’s been so much time between seasons of Euphoria that Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi have all become movie stars. They’re also too old to pass for high school students anymore, which is why Euphoria season 3 is jumping ahead a few years to a new chapter in their lives.

It seems very on point that Cassandra “Cassie” Howard (Sweeney) is now an OnlyFans creator, but it’s less clear what Rue Bennett (Zendaya) is up to. Her old drug dealer, Laurie (Martha Kelly), has caught up to Rue, and she’s also in a delicate situation with a new drug dealer, as played by former Lost star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Rue’s entire future may be a very short one unless she can cut both of them loose from her life.

Euphoria season 3 will premiere on HBO Max on April 12.
