Export slowdown hits Japan’s trade balance;stimulus drives 10.2% impor

Japan’s trade surplus dropped to JPY 57.3 billion in February 2026, down from JPY 559.2 billion a year before, as imports grew faster than exports. This result was better than the expected JPY 483.2 billion deficit.

Exports increased by 4.2% year-on-year
