Donald Trump burst out laughing when he was briefed that Iran’s incoming supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei may be gay, sources have told the New York Post.
Intelligence suggesting Mojtaba is homosexual raised doubts in his late father Ali Khamenei’s mind about his suitability to succeed him, sources said.
Others in the room found it ‘hilarious,’ and a senior intelligence official ‘has not stopped laughing about it for days,’ according to the Post.
The lurid claim was corroborated by two intelligence community officials and a third person close to the White House.
America’s spy agencies view the information as credible intelligence rather than gossip designed to undermine the 56-year-old ruler.
Mojtaba has had a long-term sexual relationship with his childhood tutor, two sources said.
A third source said intel indicated the affair was with a person who used to work for the Khamenei family.
Mojtaba, who is understood to have been gravely wounded in the strikes that killed his father on February 28, has made ‘aggressive’ sexual passes at men caring for him, potentially due to the effects of sedation, a source told the Post.

The US has no photographic evidence, but sources insisted the intel was bona fide, with one saying it was ‘derived from one of the most protected sources that the government has.’
