I am very much an accidental war correspondent. I was a lawyer, but after six months working in international arbitrations for oil companies, I could not take it anymore and went back to university to study the Middle East.

Every place I went descended into disaster, from Lebanon’s government collapse to the outbreak of war in Ukraine and wildfires in Los Angeles. And so it was that I became an accidental journalist of conflict, violence and war.
