A teenage boy and girl have died in a horror e-bike smash south of Brisbane. 

The pair were on Middle Road in Greenbank when a Harley Davidson overtook a vehicle and crashed into the e-bike travelling in the opposite direction.

It’s believed the e-bike’s headlights were not on at the time of the crash. 

Emergency services rushed to the scene about 9pm on Thursday.

Both teenagers were declared dead at the scene. 

The male rider of the Harley Davidson was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

In Queensland, children aged 12 to 15 are permitted to ride e-bikes, but they must be under the direct supervision of an adult. 

Children under the age of 12 are strictly prohibited from riding.

In Queensland all e-scooters must cap out at a maximum speed of 12km/h on footpaths and 25km/h on all other surfaces.

Under Queensland Road Rules – Section 245A anyone riding a scooter without supervision under the age of 16 can be hit with a $166 fine.

Based on this same legislation anyone operating an e-scooter which can exceed legal limits can face up to a $667 fine.
