It took longer than both parties would have liked, but Daniel Jones has agreed a lucrative new deal to stay with the Indianapolis Colts.
The quarterback has agreed a two-year deal to remain with the team worth $88million but crucially, could rise to the $100m figure Jones had in mind.
It’s the biggest two-year deal in the history of the NFL and comes after Jones turned down a three-year offer worth the same amount at $33m per season. His new deal is worth at least $11m more per year.
Jones, 28, was excellent for the Colts last season and had led the team to an 8-2 record before he tore his Achilles, an injury that derailed the team’s entire season. Without him, they went 0-7 and fell away from the playoffs.
The suggestions are that Jones should be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign in the first week of September.
Last season marked a brilliant resurgence for Jones, who had been cut by the New York Giants the season before with the team, and his own form, seemingly in freefall.
