Eva Mendes was prepared for Ryan Gosling to give her a shout-out while he hosted Saturday Night Live.
Mendes, 52, took to Instagram on Monday, March 9, to show off behind-the-scenes clips of herself getting ready to support Gosling, 45, as he hosted SNL on Saturday, March 7. In the clip, she showed a close-up of her voluminous updo, featuring her crown teased above her head and twisted in the back. The rest of her mane was worn down and in a messy — but chic — blowout.
Her makeup was just as noteworthy, including dewy foundation, filled-in eyebrows, black eyeliner and pink lips. While supporting her husband, Mendes rocked a black Stella McCartney blouse, which she tucked into straight pants. She accessorized with a black leather belt finished with gold hardware and two-toned hoop earrings.
“My prep for SNL this weekend – in case I was suddenly called out in front of cameras again 😬,” she captioned the post, referring to when Gosling surprised her during an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In another post, Mendes gushed that watching Gosling host the show was her “all time favorite episode.”
The show was only two days after Gosling gave Mendes a sweet shout-out on her birthday while appearing on The Tonight Show. To surprise her, he brought her out on stage and had a marching band come out and play “Happy Birthday.” The audience joined in on the fun and sang to her.
“Here’s the thing, you might find me in the Hudson River tomorrow,” Gosling joked about how Mendes could react to the surprise. While supporting Gosling, she wore a graphic T-shirt, a striped button-up top and blue jeans.
She gave Gosling a kiss on the cheek for his surprise.

Mendes and Gosling met in 2011 on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines. In 2014, they welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda. Two years later, Mendes gave birth to their second daughter, Amada. While their wedding date is unknown, Mendes first referred to Gosling as her “husband” in 2022. She also has a tattoo of “de Gosling” on her wrist.
