Last week the Jurassic World series of films hit Netflix, with each entry instantly hitting the top ten just days after release. With four movies that comprise a trilogy as well as a soft reboot (and no standard naming conventions or numbering), it can be a little confusing to know exactly which movies go in what order when you are trying to check out the series.
No matter whether you are watching these films for the first time or it has been a few years since your last rewatch, here is the best order to watch all the Jurassic World movies on Netflix, which include both the original Jurassic World trilogy as well as the newest reboot of the series, Jurassic World Rebirth.
1. Jurassic World (2015)
A new era for the world’s most perilous park
The first film in the new era of films in the simply-titled Jurassic World, which is set 22 years after the original Jurassic Park. The film stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as animal behavioralist Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as operations manager Claire Dearing, who find themselves constantly at odds over how the park should be run. However, these two characters find that when disaster (inevitably) strikes the park, they’ll have to work together to get out alive.
2. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Going back to the island was never a good idea
Following the events of the original Jurassic World Owen and Claire find themselves living a mostly peaceful life away from Jurassic World. However, when a volcanic eruption threatens the lives of the surviving dinosaurs of Isla Nublar the pair team up once again to try and save the lives of these giant creatures before they go extinct again. Fans of the original Jurassic Park series will be delighted to see Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm make a quick cameo appearance in this film.
3. Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Getting the band back together
Set four years after the events of Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom, the world has been plunged into chaos as humans and dinosaurs attempt to co-exist. The film once again features Owen and Claire, but is unique as it also brings in more familiar faces from the original Jurassic Park films including Sam Neill’s Alan Grant, and Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler. Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm is also once again along for the ride, making this one Jurassic reunion longtime fans of the series will appreciate.
4. Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)
A new era
Set five years after the events of Dominion, Jurassic World Rebirth soft resets the Jurassic timeline and follows a new cast of characters who are tasked with getting DNA samples from the three most colossal dinosaurs across land, sea, and air in an effort to create a new miracle drug. The film stars Scarlett Johansson as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali as team leader Duncan Kincaid, and Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis who all must travel to the ruins of Isla Nublar to try and accomplish their goal.
