Jake Gyllenhaal typically keeps his love life out of the spotlight, but he’s given small glimpses into his relationship with girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu.
Gyllenhaal and Cadieu started dating in 2018, making their red carpet debut as a couple three years later at a screening of The Lost Daughter. The film was directed, written and produced by Jake’s older sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal.
While the pair have had their fair share of public outings, Jake has been open about the fact that he and Cadieu prefer to keep their romance low-key.
“It’s a wonderful relationship,” the actor said in a September 2023 interview with People. “We are private, but I guess we are who we are. We’re just living our lives. We always have…I love that people are interested, but at the same time, it’s like what’s ours is ours.”

The actor added that marriage is “a choice for both” him and Cadieu.
“I love her so much; she’s such a good person,” he gushed.

Jeanne Cadieu has been by Jake Gyllenhaal’s side for several events. When Jake was starring in the Broadway production of Othello in 2025, she took to social media to share how proud she was of him ahead of opening night.
“Grateful to have spent opening night with some of my favorite people. Proud of my love — I’ll cherish every single moment spent with you on this journey,” Cadieu wrote via Instagram in March 2025. “And will forever be there to run lines with you! ❤️”
