Retired Chicago Detective Pamela Childs puts her knowledge and skills to the test in Investigation Discovery’s new series Hunt for the Missing: Chicago. The premiere episode follows Childs as she tries to break down the missing person’s case of Kierra Coles, and discusses why there may be more suspects than police initially believed in a teaser clip exclusively shared by Us Weekly.
Coles, 26, went missing in 2018 while she was three months pregnant. After the investigation into her disappearance slowed down with no answers, Childs took it upon herself to try to figure out what happened to Coles.
“I don’t really have an answer for cases like this. The Chicago Police Department, to have had no contact in years, is really not doing nearly enough, in my opinion,” Childs said in the teaser clip.
Childs went on to explain that in cases similar to Coles’, police tend to typically look at the missing person’s romantic partners. She confirmed that the Chicago Police Department did look into Coles’ then-boyfriend, Josh Simmons, and said they were unable to connect him to the crime.

“With this many years that has passed and there’s been nothing from the police department, that kind of tells me that there’s something more to this than just the boyfriend,” Childs added.
The clip concluded with Childs speculating that Coles may have been involved with someone else at the time of her disappearance, and that the other person may somehow be involved in the case.
“You have to wonder if there was somebody else in Kierra’s life and that’s what I intend to find out,” she said.
Throughout the first episode, Childs breaks down the police’s investigation into Coles’ disappearance and uncovers a secret relationship that Coles was involved in that could potentially help the Chicago Police Department identify the previously unnamed person of interest in the case.
Each episode of Hunt for the Missing: Chicago will feature Childs looking into different unsolved missing persons cases that took place in the Illinois city. Some of the other victims’ stories that will be highlighted on the show include Diamond Bynum, Jerrica Laws, Marlo Gulley, Kianna Galvin and Erica Thompson.

“Over the course of the series, Detective Childs unpacks several cold cases spanning decades, aiming to not only uncover new leads and find potential answers, but to restore potential hope or offer closure to the victims’ families and loved ones who have suffered immensely in the wake of their disappearance,” Investigation Discovery said in a press release about the new six-episode series.
“While Hunt for the Missing: Chicago exposes new answers in cold cases that have sat in the shadows for years, the series goes far beyond the investigations exposing the deep struggles and pain the families and friends grapple with in the wake of their loved one’s disappearance.”
Hunt for the Missing: Chicago premieres on Wednesday, March 4, at 10 p.m. ET on ID. New episodes will air weekly, while episodes are also available to stream on HBO MAX.
