A24 Hires ‘Heartstopper’ Producer Patrick Walters From See-Saw


EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Walters, the creative executive behind hit series Heartstopper and Sweetpea, is joining A24’s UK TV team from See-Saw.

Based in London and working alongside the recently appointed senior team of Laura Lankester and Will Johnston, Walters joins to grow the studio’s global TV slate. A24’s UK operation is led by Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett.

Walters joined See-Saw Films in 2014 and ran the in-house label Fanboy. He is the lead producer behind Emmy-winning hit Heartstopper for Netflix, starring Kit Connor and Joe Locke, which has run for three seasons and will culminate in a feature-length finale this year. Other credits include Sweetpea for Sky Atlantic/Starz, which is currently in post-production on a second season, starring Ella Purnell, and The Essex Serpent for Apple TV+, starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston. Previously, he helped develop series including The North Water for BBC Two and Slow Horses for Apple TV+.

A24’s upcoming UK TV slate includes Major Players by Molly Manning Walker (Channel 4), The Husbands by Miriam Battye (Apple TV+) starring Juno Temple, Leo Reich’s It Gets Worse (Channel 4), Michaela Coel’s First Day On Earth (BBC/HBO) and Alice Birch’s The Ministry of Time (BBC). Other series include Dreaming Whilst Black and Such Brave Girls.

The studio’s broader spring TV slate includes the next season of Euphoria on HBO, Beef on Netflix, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles on Apple TV+. It recently launched its first unscripted series Neighbors on HBO, which debuted as top HBO unscripted series in HBO Max platform history. The team has been organizing under Ravi Nandan, with Sam French leading U.S. TV.
