The late Johnny and Mattew Gaudreau’s sister, Katie Gaudreau, is pregnant, gearing up to welcome her first child with husband, Devin Joyce.
“Our favorite news to share,” Katie, 25, captioned an Instagram video on Thursday, February 26. The black-and-white video showed Katie wrapping her arm around her husband’s neck while holding a pair of baby Nike sneakers in one hand. She held a sonogram in her other hand.
Joyce, who was wearing a hat in the clip, turned it around to face the camera. His cap read, “Dad,” in big block letters. Katie was wearing a matching hat that read, Mom.”
Katie and Joyce’s news comes seven months after they tied the knot. The wedding, which took place in July 2025, took place nearly one year after Johnny and Matthew’s deaths in a fatal biking accident. They were 31 and 29, respectively.

Sean M. Higgins has been accused of killing both Johnny and Matthew. He admitted to drinking prior to the accident and was arrested with a blood alcohol level of 0.087. However, Higgins’ lawyer is attempting to fight the collection of his blood alcohol level, claiming the accused’s plasma was tested — causing a higher percentage.
Higgins was indicted on two counts of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, two counts of second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, one count of tampering with physical evidence (fourth-degree) and leaving the scene of a fatal accident (second-degree) in December 2024. He is attempting to have some of the charges dropped.
Higgins’ lawyer filed a notice of motion to dismiss the charges on Monday, February 23, “based on a failure to present proper evidence,” according to The Athletic. He next court date is set for April 14.
Katie was originally set to marry Joyce in August 2024, but one day prior Johnny and Matthew were struck and killed by a car while biking in New Jersey. There were several tributes to Johnny and Matthew when Katie walked down the aisle the following year.
Katie’s pregnancy news comes nearly one week after Johnny was honored by Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan after the men’s hockey team defeated Canada in a historic 2-1 overtime win to secure the gold medal.

“We’re obviously thinking of him, and we just felt like the impact that he’s had on so many guys in our room was special,” Team USA captain Auston Matthews told the NHL after the game. “And he was with us here in spirit the whole tournament.”
Fellow athlete Brady Tkachuk told NHL that the team “so dearly” misses both Johnny and Matthew.
“He would have been on this team. He’s touched everybody on that ice,” Tkachuk said of Johnny. “We just wanted to show the Gaudreau family our support. He was so near and dear to a lot of us, and we miss him greatly, and we did it for them.”
