Luke Combs has had a beautiful crazy career.
However, the “Hurricane” singer admitted that “there’s a lot of self-doubt” surrounding his weight and appearance, noting how it has been a constant struggle on his journey to becoming one of the biggest names in country music.
“I knew I could perform as good as anybody and put on a good show and write songs that I felt like people would enjoy,” Luke said on the Feb. 24 episode of The New York Times’ Popcast podcast. “That was one of my biggest fears is like, ‘Man, maybe I don’t get a shot just because of the way I look.’”
The 35-year-old added, “That was a hard pill to swallow ‘cause you can’t really change the way you look.”
Still, the “Beautiful Crazy” singer has incorporated certain health practices like fasting and a gluten-free diet into his life, which has helped him “lose a little bit of weight.”
However, juggling his busy career with the full-time job of being a dad to his and wife Nicole Hocking Combs’ three sons Tex, 3, Beau, 2, and newborn Chet, Luke described his fitness journey as “this puzzle I can’t figure out.”
