A 21-year-old woman in South Korea is accused of murdering two men — and using AI to help plan their deaths.

According to reports from the BBC and the Korea Herald, a woman, identified only by her surname, Kim, was arrested on Feb. 11 on an initial charge of inflicting bodily injury resulting in death.

Kim allegedly killed the two men by giving them drinks mixed with drugs, and she used ChatGPT to help her prepare the deadly drinks.

Police said that the first fatal attack took place on Jan. 28. Kim allegedly went to a motel with a man in his 20s in Seoul's Gangbuk District. Two hours later, she left the motel, and by the next day, the man was found dead.

The next attack came on Feb. 9, when Kim allegedly used the same method to meet up with another man in his 20s and checked into a different Seoul motel with him.

Officials said they suspect that there was another attempted murder in December 2025, when Kim allegedly gave a drink mixed with sedatives to her then-partner in the city of Namyangju, making him lose consciousness.

Investigators who seized Kim's phone said she used the AI chatbot ChatGPT to research the results of mixing various prescription drugs with alcohol.

"What happens if you take sleeping pills with alcohol?" she allegedly asked the chatbot, as well as, "How many do you need to take for it to be dangerous?" and "Could it kill someone?"

Police said Kim began preparing the drinks with significantly higher doses of drugs containing benzodiazepines — central nervous system depressant drugs such as Xanax or Valium that slow down brain activity — after the first incident in December.

The 21-year-old allegedly admitted to investigators during the course of the investigation that she mixed her prescribed sedatives into the drinks, but claimed she did not know the doses would be deadly. However, one investigator said Kim was "fully aware that consuming alcohol together with drugs could result in death," per the BBC.

Kim's charges were later upgraded to murder, as police argued that she had the intent to kill the men based on her internet history.

Police have not yet shared a motive for the murders.

OpenAI, ChatGPT's parent company, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Police said they plan to continue the investigation and are searching to see if there are additional victims beyond the three identified thus far.

As a part of her trial, Kim is set to undergo a psychopathy assessment and will give in-depth interviews to determine her psychological profile.
