Search Continues in Alabama for Missing Girl, 2, As Mom Is Held For Questioning


The search for a missing 2-year-old girl in Alabama continues after she was last seen at her home in Enterprise.

Officials with the Enterprise Police Department identified the missing girl as Genises Nova Reid. After she was reported missing, an alert was sent out on the afternoon of Monday, February 16, asking that police keep an eye open for her and noting that she was possibly in danger. Additionally, authorities shared a missing persons flyer with the public that included details about her physical appearance.

The young girl’s mother, Adrienne Reid, reportedly told police officers that she realized her daughter was missing when she found the 2-year-old’s bedroom empty. Additionally, she said that the front door of their home was also open. On Tuesday, February 17, she has been taken into custody for questioning.

Genises was reportedly last seen wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas. She stands 2-foot-5 and weighs 30 pounds, according to the missing person flyer shared by authorities. Her race is Black, while her hair color is black and her eyes are brown.

The police department said that Genises’ possible whereabouts are not currently known at this time. Additionally, it’s not known what direction she was traveling in when she went missing.

Authorities are continuing to look for her and have asked anyone who may have information about her location to contact Enterprise Police Department at (334) 347-2222.

Law enforcement from multiple different agencies left from the Enterprise Police Department early in the morning of Tuesday, February 17, amid the search, according to WDHN. Authorities are looking for the young girl and any clues that can help with her disappearance in wooded areas around Meadowbrook Apartments.

Several neighbors have also volunteered their time to help assist in the search around their neighborhood, according to the outlet.

Additionally, the Enterprise Police Department has also asked the public to help find an alleged friend of Genises’ family. While officials said that the woman’s first name is Mariah, they did not disclose her age or last name. However, they did say that she was known to be around Levels Bar and Grill in Level Plains around the time of Genises’ disappearance.

Mariah has not been named a suspect in the case, though police believe she could have important information about the young girl’s whereabouts amid the ongoing search.

While Genises was reported missing on February 16, several neighbors said that they had not seen the young girl in over one month.

One neighbor told WDHN that she noticed Genises and her mother stopped taking their routine walks around the neighborhood a few weeks earlier.

Meanwhile, another neighbor said that she had not seen Genises since Christmas. The neighbor added that the lack of interaction with Genises was odd because her child would often play with her.

Neighbor Tyler McGowan claimed that he ran into Genises’ mother alone in a store on Valentine’s Day. After he asked her where Genises was, the mother allegedly said, “I don’t know.” He added that Genesis and her mother were often out and about together, which was why he asked her where the young girl was.

Enterprise Police are working with Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputies, local fire departments, the State Bureau of Investigation and a local FBI field amid the search. Additionally, FBI agents arrived on the scene to assist with the search on February 16.
