Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told KOLD on Wednesday that more detentions are likely as investigators comb through thousands of tips related to the Nancy Guthrie case.

Investigators have been flooded with tips after publishing doorbell camera footage showing a male figure wearing a ski mask and thick gloves approaching Nancy’s residence, then realizing the camera was recording him and tearing it off.

Nano’s department said it has received nearly 18,000 calls to its various tip lines since February, and more than 4,000 of those came in the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

‘Several hundred detectives and agents are currently assigned to this case, and you will continue to see increased law enforcement activity throughout Pima County as the investigation expands,’ the department said.

FBI director Kash Patel confirmed there were ‘multiple’ persons of interest being investigated in Nancy’s disappearance, although he shared no further details on who they might be, and no arrests have been made.

On Tuesday, one individual, who identified himself as Carlos Palazuelos, was brought in for questioning as authorities executed a search of his property, but was later released from custody.

Retired FBI supervisory special agent James Gagliano pointed out the key giveaways in the doorbell footage that show Nancy Guthrie’s abductor is an amateur.

‘It does not look like a trained assassin or somebody who’s been doing this a long time,’ he told Fox & Friends on Thursday.

‘I look at the gun, I’ve never ever seen somebody carry a weapon that way. I carried a weapon in the service of my country for 33 years. I have never seen somebody carry it that way.

‘This looks like it was thrown together either last minute or the person got a holster from one person and the weapon from somebody else.’

Gagliano also questioned why the suspect approached the front door.

‘There are multiple points of entry that you could get into very easily,’ he said.

‘In the back of the house, there is a door that’s got like nine panel window panes in it, and you could have easily broken one panel, reached in your hand, unlocked the door and gone in with nobody noticing.

‘So why did this suspect [go] to the front? It really boggles the mind.’

Ratings for NBC’s ‘Today’ show have spiked in the days since the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Overall viewership for the week that ended on February 6 surged an astounding 23 percent equivalent to 624,000 viewers over the year-earlier period, according to new data from Nielsen.

In total, ‘Today’ won an average audience of nearly 3.32 million viewers, surging ahead of the 2.91 million for ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ and 1.84 million for CBS’ ‘CBS Mornings’.

The results put it in front of Good Morning America by a full 30,000 total viewers.

The figures are a five percent jump from last week, with former fixture Hoda Kotb now filling in for Guthrie along with co-host Craig Melvin.

FBI agents carried out an inch-by-inch search of the rugged scrubland around abducted Nancy Guthrie’s $1 million home Wednesday as the hunt for her reached the end of its 11th day.

The team, apparently led by a uniformed woman in a blue shirt and green pants from the evidence collection unit, scoured the area for nearly an hour, walking amid huge cacti for any clues about the disappearance of TV star Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother.

It now seems that the search efforts were at least somewhat successful, as authorities found a black glove that looks similar to the one her abductor wore in the chilling doorbell camera footage from the night of her abduction.

The Daily Mail understands the lone glove, found lying in a small shrub, was bagged up and taken by authorities, who remained tight-lipped about who the glove may belong to.
