Social Sports Pavilions : Ballers sports venue

Good City Studio has reimagined a former Philadelphia power station as Ballers, a social sports pavilion that blends athletics, wellness, and hospitality. The 55,000-square-foot Turbine Hall is now a multifunctional arena that hosts pickleball, padel, squash, golf simulators, turf training zones, dining areas, lounges, and recovery spaces.

The project retains the site’s industrial character by preserving steel structure, vaulted ceilings, and raw finishes while layering in new courts, pathways, and social areas. Natural light enters through expansive apertures, emphasizing the contrast between monumental scale and intimate gathering points. By uniting sport and design within a historic framework, the venue positions itself as more than recreation. It becomes a cultural hub that demonstrates how adaptive reuse can sustain heritage while creating opportunities for connection and contemporary life.
