Louis Theroux Spotlighting Girlbands For BBC

Louis Theroux is turning his focus to girlbands. Having made Boybands Forever for the BBC, Theroux and Nancy Strang’s Mindhouse Productions is turning its attention to the likes of the Spice Girls, S Club 7, Little Mix, Mis-Teeq and Sugababes in Girlbands Forever.  “I well remember when the Spice Girls, Eternal and All Saints burst on the scene in the 90s,” said Theroux. “It was a special time in pop music and British culture generally. Then in their wake came a parade of girl bands, made up of girls who were all in different ways beautiful, talented and often very funny.” The series will feature in-depth interviews with members of All Saints, Atomic Kitten, Eternal, Little Mix, Mis-Teeq and Sugababes.

‘Doctor Who’ Showrunner Russell T Davies Given Highest Honour From BAFTA Wales

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies will be handed the highest honor by BAFTA in Wales. Davies is set to be given the Outstanding Contribution to Television Award by BAFTA Cymru. He is a TV icon who has been behind the likes of Queer as Folk, Cucumber and the upcoming Tip Toe. He is currently in the midst of his second stint showrunning Doctor Who. This year marks 10 years since Davies was awarded the BAFTA Television Craft award for Writer: Drama, for Channel 4’s Cucumber. The following year, he was named recipient of BAFTA’s Dennis Potter award for Doctor Who. Awards are both mad and lovely. Receiving this Outstanding Contribution Award is an honour,” said Davies. “It means people have watched something and remembered something that you’ve done. It’s our peers who decide on awards like this, which is an enormous compliment.” Respected journalist and presenter Bethan Rhys Roberts is to be honoured with the Siân Phillips Award – presented to a Welsh individual who has made significant contributions to film and/or television. 

‘Escape Room’ Actor Logan Miller Among Names Set For Horror Flick ‘A Dying Art’

Logan Miller (Escape Room), Jill Schoelen (The Stepfather), Robert Longstreet (Halloween Kills), and Victoria Cedeño have signed on to the horror feature A Dying Art. The film recently wrapped production in Seattle. David Franklin (As Far As The Eye Can See) directed from his own script. Producers are Daniel Gildark (The Paper Tigers), Joshua Carlin, Nesib Shamah (Worst Laid Plans), and Vico Sharabani (The Red Mask). Robert Chang (Advantageous) is the Executive Producer. The synopsis reads: At Pacific Northwest State University, students are being murdered in ways that mimic classic horror films. Is the new film Professor the Killer? His students must uncover the truth—if they can survive.

HBO Max Launching In 14 Asia Pacific Markets

HBO Max is set to launch in 14 new markets in Asia Pacific. The streamer has rolled out in Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. HBO Max will be live in more than 100 markets by the end of this year and next year has big launches to come in Germany, Italy and the UK. “Following successful launches in Australia and Europe earlier this year, the global expansion of HBO Max continues to bring unparallelled entertainment to more fans across the world,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming & Games at Warner Bros. Discovery. “By the end of the year, HBO Max will be available in more than 100 markets, with more to come in 2026, including major launches in Germany, Italy and the U.K.”
