Chrissy Metz Makes Rare Quote About New Relationship

Chrissy Metz hasn’t taken her new romance public — but can’t help but offer details on her new man.

“There’s a love that I haven’t experienced before,” Metz, 44, shared during a Monday, September 8, appearance on the “Sibling Revelry” podcast. “He’s like, ‘I would never want anything to be removed and nothing gained. Just as you are.’ That gives me the liberty to say, ‘Oh, I can love myself enough. You love me enough that I don’t have to do anything, but now I want to.’”

The conversation about Metz’s relationship came up when she and host Oliver Hudson were discussing having “grace” for yourself in different aspects of life.

“My boyfriend lifts weights, and he’s very consistent. He was also in the Nigerian Navy. Very different from my inconsistencies,” she said. “He’s very regimented and scheduled.”

Metz added, “This is good to see it in practice and in a positive way. It never enforces anything. When I was in South Africa, he’s like, ‘Are they feeding you?’ I’m like, ‘Babe, I’m missing a meal.’ But it’s a different cultural thing in Nigeria.”

The This Is Us star recalled her boyfriend’s sister saying she “prayed to gain weight,” whereas Metz “prayed to get skinny.”

“It’s just so different here. And of course, in our business, even more magnified,” Metz said. “It’s wonderful.”

Metz confirmed to Us Weekly exclusively in April that she had a new man in her life after splitting from ex Bradley Collins in 2023 after three years together. The actress said she was feeling “very, very good” about where things were going.

“I think that when you keep trying things and expecting different results, that’s called the definition of insanity,” she explained of the romance. “And I’m like, yeah, you know what? I think I want to just keep it very private and just enjoy it.”

Metz said she’s being “very cautious and careful” with this new love.

“What’s the intention of talking about it and sharing it?” she added.

During Monday’s podcast episode, Metz discussed how she’s been working strength training into her workout routine — something she discussed in a separate interview last month.

“I want to live the longest life possible,” she told People at the time, noting that she was focusing on being “health positive” instead of losing weight. “I know skinniness doesn’t equal happiness. I never said I wanted to be the face of body positivity. It’s not that I condone morbid obesity or heroin chic. I condone a healthy body.”
