Accessible AI Document Features : Workspace Suite

Google has integrated a new functionality into its Docs application within the Workspace suite that utilizes the Gemini AI system to convert written text into synthesized speech. This feature provides users with a selection of naturalistic vocal outputs and includes playback management options such as pause and rewind, alongside a visual component that highlights the text being read aloud.

Google positions this new development in its Workspace suite as enhancing both accessibility and general productivity. The feature is accessible to subscribers of certain premium Workspace plans, including Business, Enterprise, and Education tiers.

This development is seen as part of a broader competitive strategy to align with and challenge similar AI-powered features offered by rival productivity software platforms.
