Clean the Sky – Japanese Green Energy Partnerships

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) signed cooperation agreements with Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation and Orascom Construction at the 12th session of the Egypt–Japan Business Council and Investment Forum in Tokyo. The agreements establish a joint framework to design, develop and operate integrated facilities for supplying ships with ammonia as a marine fuel at the SCZone ports of Sokhna and East Port Said. The collaboration aims to support the zone’s shift toward sustainable maritime transport by enabling ammonia bunkering operations under a single coordinated platform.

Under the partnership, ITOCHU’s global trading and infrastructure expertise will combine with Orascom Construction’s engineering and construction capabilities to deliver storage and distribution systems that meet international safety and environmental standards. The project is expected to reduce emissions from ship operations, enhance fuel supply resilience in the Red Sea–Mediterranean corridor and advance SCZone’s broader objectives for clean energy adoption and environmental stewardship in maritime logistics.
