I just saw this post this morning on LinkedIn. Let me read it to you. Here’s the reality: sometimes they preferred someone else. Maybe they connected over golf. Maybe they favored him because of his background. Maybe his discussion of a technical skill swayed them, even though you didn’t mention it. In the end, they just liked him more. He seemed to fit better, whether fairly or not.

If bias was at play, altering who you are isn’t the answer, nor should it be. You can’t go back and ask for another chance after an offer has been made. The opportunity is past. You can linger on the shore feeling upset, disappointed, or any other emotion, but as you watch those sails disappear, other opportunities are arising elsewhere. It’s more beneficial for you to explore those new horizons rather than dwell on the past.
