The garden pavilion in Kent is a refined single-storey extension by Neil Dusheiko Architects, located in Hildenborough and designed to give a 1990s home a fresh architectural layer. Positioned to embrace the garden, the new volume features expansive glazing, warm timber details, and a sheltered terrace that bridges indoor and outdoor life. The extension respects the original house while reorienting it toward the landscape, creating bright, open spaces that feel both welcoming and contemporary.
Natural light filters across tactile materials, enhancing a sense of warmth and calm throughout the day. A muted palette of wood, brick, and glass balances visual simplicity with subtle richness, while the pavilion’s proportions ensure privacy without sacrificing openness. The project demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can transform dated suburban homes into timeless retreats rooted in connection to their surroundings.
