Blue Shield of California has announced a new feature for patients that will help them to stay even more connected with their doctor and their everyday health needs. The non-profit health plan provider will offer members mobile push notifications to let them know when their doctor has initiated a an e-prescription order, which will encourage them to view drug prices and weigh their options. The feature can be used in tandem with the Price Check My Rx dashboard that’s powered by Gemini Health and found within the Blue Shield app to let users know how much their prescriptions will cost, track changes and more.

Blue Shield of California Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Jigar Shah spoke on the updates saying, “I’m proud that we are removing the guesswork for patients when it comes to drug costs. With this new digital experience, we are bringing transparency straight to our members’ fingertips so they can view and discuss their medication and price options with their provider. This is another important step toward a healthcare system that is worthy of our family and friends and sustainably affordable.”
