Kelly Clarkson has postponed her Las Vegas residency amid her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s illness.

“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in LaReview Links Vegas,” Clarkson, 43, announced via Instagram on Wednesday, August 6. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

Keeping it real. Kelly Clarkson surprised some when she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock on June 4, 2020, after nearly seven years of marriage. At the time, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the former couple “clashed on so many levels and being in quarantine together [amid the coronavirus pandemic] heightened their problems […]

The inaugural American Idol champion married her former music manager in 2013. The exes welcomed River, 11, in 2014 and son Remington, 9, in 2016. Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, 48, in 2020, finalizing the terms in 2022. She received full primary custody and moved her brood to New York City, where she films her namesake talk show.

“I thought I was making a horrible decision,” she recalled to USA Today in October 2023. “I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”

Clarkson added, “I genuinely love it, and I love that my kids love it. I was like, ‘I’m not living here unless it’s right by the park and really nice for the kids.’”

She also agreed to give Blackstock visitation rights in their divorce.

When Clarkson appeared on the Today show in May of this year, she said she was not actively searching for a new relationship.

“I’m not not looking and I’m not looking. I’m very busy,” Clarkson said at the time. “And you get this, as a mom, I’ve got to focus right now. So, it’s like, there’s a lot of work. Plus, I mean, my kids’ schedule? I feel like it’s busier than mine!”
