The lab is one of only 18 accredited gait analysis centers in the US. The facility has been upgraded to Vicon’s Valkyrie camera system. With the new cutting-edge motion capture technology, the lab can process more precise 3D kinematic and kinetic analysis of patient movement. This advancement allows clinicians to capture higher-resolution data in real time, improving diagnostic accuracy and enabling faster development of personalized treatment plans for children with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, and orthopedic disorders.
By leveraging the same motion capture technology used in film and gaming, the Children’s Hospital Colorado creates dynamic avatars of patients’ movements, giving multidisciplinary teams — including physical therapists, surgeons, and engineers — a comprehensive view of gait abnormalities to optimize interventions.
