However, it ended up getting renewed for a second run, which arrived in February this year. Now, as fans have binge-watched both seasons, they wish to know if there is a season 3 in store. Well, much to their disappointment, not only has there been no official confirmation on 1923 season 3, but one of the cast members has affirmed that season 2 will be the conclusive chapter of the series, hence it will not be returning on Netflix.

Brandon Sklenar, who plays one of the leads in 1923 season 2, spoke to Forbes before the latest season’s premiere, calling it the final chapter in all respects. Additionally, the It Ends With Us star also spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, saying that both seasons of 1923 should be treated as “one piece,” as that is essential to ensure the bookend conclusion of it. “There is just a split in the middle, but it is all one piece. It will conclude,” the actor elaborated, reaffirming there will be no season 3 of 1923. Interestingly, show creator Taylor Sheridan, according to CBR, had long explained how 1923 would be only a two-season outing in a Deadline interview. Well, with that, it appears unlikely that 1923 will be renewed for a third season. Meanwhile, 1923 season 2 is not available for streaming on Netflix like season 1, and that has fans confused. 

While 1923 season 1 gained traction on Netflix, 1923 season 2 continues to stay amiss. Where is the much-hyped installment available to watch?

Netflix released 1923 season 1 only a couple of days ago, on July 9, 2025, to be exact. The much-beloved prequel of Yellowstone arrived on the streamer three years after its debut on Paramount+, its original home, only to support its global viewership. It turns out, Netflix’s deal with the makers of 1923 was limited to only the first season, with season 2 of the IP remaining a Paramount+ exclusive. The move is intended to encourage the worldwide audience to subscribe to the source platform of the series for enduring viewing experience.

A report by Elle, meanwhile, suggests that even if Netflix decides to bring 1923 season 2 to its viewers, it probably will have to wait until 2028 for the same, mirroring the release timeline of season 1 of the show. All in all, amid the dreams of 1923 returning for a third season being crushed, fans without a Paramount+ subscription will not even be allowed to stream season 2 of the show, especially leaving Netflix users to opt for alternative period offerings.
