Access-Focused Performing Arts Organizations : disability inclusion

SHOWAbility, a nonprofit organization advocating for disability inclusion in the performing arts, has launched a year-long public service campaign to promote accessibility awareness. This announcement coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Disability Pride Month.

Founded by Myrna Clayton, an international jazz artist and cultural ambassador, SHOWAbility seeks to amplify representation for people with disabilities in entertainment, media, and sports by engaging celebrities, influencers, and community leaders. The campaign, which runs from July 2025 to July 2026, will feature digital and broadcast content highlighting disability advocates, including former professional dancers, TED speakers, and activists connected to the disability rights movement. By leveraging high-profile voices, SHOWAbility aims to normalize disability in mainstream culture while pushing for systemic changes in accessibility and inclusion across industries.
