This collaborative project between artist Cecilia Szalkowicz and architecture studio MATER explores the fundamental nature of exhibition spaces through an innovative modular wall system constructed from lightweight concrete elements. The installation’s twelve precast components, varying in form and texture, create a 10.5-meter fragmented surface that actively engages with photographic works rather than serving as a passive backdrop. This approach transforms traditional exhibition paradigms by making the architectural support an integral part of the artistic experience.
Technical innovation underpins the project’s conceptual ambitions, with each 600-kilogram module achieving structural stability through an ingenious system of reinforced concrete beams and rotating wheels. This engineering solution allows the massive exhibition display forms to remain mobile, enabling future reconfigurations that could adapt to different spatial contexts.
