Vans OTW and FDMTL work in collaboration on a special collection which merges California skate styles with the fine work of Japanese craftsmanship. The Tokyo-based brand was first founded in 2005 and quickly gained a following due to its meticulous work. It taps to the traditional art of patchwork, boro-style textiles, and sashiko stitching, to name a few.
These all nod to Japan’s practices of mending clothing. All of the pieces tell a story of its own and make a great collectible piece. The Old Skool 36 sneaker is immediately recognizable with its low-top design and iconic side stripe. FDMTL adds its signature patchwork denim to the upper with layers of indigo and details of sashiko stitching.
