Multi-Storey 3D-Printed Houses : QR3D

Local design firm Park + Associates has completed the design of the QR3D home — it is a notable 3D-printed and located in Singapore. The home is made using layered concrete and is complete with a sculptural void at the middle. It is the home of Lim Koon Park, the principal and founder of the firm. Additionally, it is also a four-storey home and over 90% is made with 3D-printed materials.

Park speaks about the design, “While we were excited by the novelty of 3D printing, our aim was always to create a family home that would be relevant and respected decades from now. We didn’t want the technology to overshadow the essence of the home. Though we commenced our design as if we would a conventionally-constructed house, we did have to spend more-than-usual resources modifying and developing the design to ensure it can be 3D-printed.”
