Scoop up an M4 Mac Mini for its cheapest price ever while you still can

If you’ve been eyeing Apple’s recently-redesigned mini desktop PC — the aptly named Mac mini (M4, 2024) — then now is a good time to consider hitting that all-too-familiar ‘add to cart’ button. For a limited time only, the teeny tiny computer is on sale over on Amazon for $470 in the US — a total savings of $130. This discount applies to the base model, which ships with an M4 processor, 256 GB of storage, and 16 GB of RAM.

Luckily, if you’re looking for a little extra storage space for downloading apps, documents, and other files, the mid-tier M4 Mac mini model is also currently on sale for $670 ($110 off the MSRP) on Amazon’s storefront. This edition ships with the same M4 chip and 16GB of RAM, while being supplemented with a more spacious 512 GB of SSD storage.

The M4 Mac mini was released in November 2024, serving as the first major redesign of the product line in years. Owing to its Apple Silicon internals, the unit is significantly more compact than the previous M2 model (which was initially designed with less efficient X86-64 Intel processors in mind). Being a recently rejuvenated product, it’s unlikely that the M4 model will fall out of fashion anytime in the short-to-medium-term future.

As far as miniature PCs are concerned, Apple’s latest-generation Mac mini stands in a league of its own. The device is genuinely tiny by desktop computer standards, measuring it at only 2 x 5 x 5-inches (5 x 12.7 x 12.7 cm), and tipping the scales at only 1.5 pounds (0.67 kg) for the base M4 model. Shipping in an all-aluminum enclosure, the base product features the following I/O ports: X1 Gigabit Ethernet, X1 HDMI, X3 Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), X2 USB 3 (USB-C), and X1 3.5 mm headphone jack. More expensive configurations include 10Gb Ethernet, and Thunderbolt 5.

Of course, the star of the show here is Apple’s custom M4 chipset. With its ARM-based technology, the processor is well-endowed in the performance-per-watt category, allowing for a massive amount of computational grunt without the need for a massive casing. The M4 Pro model is even more powerful, with additional CPU and GPU cores and increased memory bandwidth. All models are actively cooled with a fan, and all offer a built-in speaker, a dedicated Media Engine, and access to AI-powered Apple Intelligence features.
