Who Will Do a Better Job For You–A Recruiter or a Coach?

I ran a poll on LinkedIn asking this question. After all, I wrote an article for Brainz called, “Who Will Do A Better Job For You – A Recruiter Or A Coach?” where I shared my thoughts. I spent most of my career doing recruiting before transitioning to coaching. I asked people on LinkedIn for their thoughts.
Almost 2/3 of the respondents thought a coach would do better; 34% thought a recruiter would do better.
Comments included:
“A coach will help you focus on being in the moment at an interview, and give strategies on taking the lead in a new role— which is likely a more important role than you had before.”
“Both can provide valuable insights from different perspectives.”
“Two completely different skillsets!! You need both. A coach looks at your alignment and personal brand to achieve short and long-term career goals. A recruiter is short term, usually looking to see how your skills and work history align to a particular role.
There is a ton I cannot cover in 2 sentences. If you want a new career or position that doesn’t align to your specific experience, you had better start with a career coach, for instance…”
