Sonrisa Rum has proudly announced that all three of its premium expressions have earned medals at the prestigious 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This is considered an important milestone for the relatively young brand. Sonrisa Rum’s Reserva expression secured a Gold Medal, while both Oro Especial and Platino varieties were awarded Silver Medals.

Produced in Puerto Rico under the leadership of co-founders Shareef Malnik and Jae Goodman, Sonrisa Rum distinguishes itself through several innovative approaches to rum production. The brand’s expressions deliver a zero-carb, sugar-free, and gluten-free profile that challenges traditional rum characteristics. The company also strategically positions itself as an evening sipping spirit rather than a tropical cocktail ingredient.

Beyond its product offerings, Sonrisa Rum demonstrates social responsibility through its ‘From Puerto Rico, For Puerto Rico’ foundation, which directs a portion of proceeds to support local businesses and community development initiatives on the island.
