Liam de la Bedoyere designs the Polka Coffee Table concept, which reimagines functionality and aesthetics when it comes to furniture design. It is inspired by a simple sketch of a cone shape then the designer developed a table surface from this. It features a range of inverted cork cones that is meant to function as coasters as well.
The arrangements of these are built throughout the surface to create an engaging visual pattern which blend elements of form and function. These cones are about 90-100mm in diameter at the top and it offers a sense of stability with the strength to support cups. Cork was the chosen material due to its tactile qualities and natural ability to hold heat and reject scratches.
