Nigerian startup company AllSpace has just been recognized for its prototypes of modular shelters by the Swarovski Foundation’s Creatives for Our Future programme and The World Around’s Young Climate Prize. The team has created structures which are easy to assemble and affordable in order to answer the growing crisis of refugee shelters across the globe.
These are also made with recycled elements to remain sustainable through and through. The founder of AllSpace speaks about the design project to Dezeen, noting, “It looks like the typical Nigerian traditional African architecture, like hearts with the windows, cross ventilation and everything. So I think for them, it just felt more like home. It was easier for them to accept that kind of form.”
