3D-Printed Mood Lamps : orbyt

Aleš Boem designed the Orbyt lamp, which is a functional piece of artwork. It looks like it is suspended in the air as the glowing disc is held by a slender arc rooted to a grounded cube. The lamp lightly hovers and seems to defy gravity as a whole. The Orbyt was born based on a familiar concept, which is inspired by IKEA’s Strimsäv cabinet lamp.

This is often hidden away, and the Orbyt takes the simple light with geometric shapes and paths. Notably, the lamp is designed for home 3D printing — this encourages a close relationship with light at home. The disc in the middle smoothly rotates to direct the light where it is needed.
