American design firms SOM and Gensler work in collaboration to complete the Robert A Iger Building, which functions as the headquarters for the media company Disney. It is located in New York City and nods to the local architecture of the bustling city. The defining features use the bold terracotta cladding to stand out in the city — it works as a main point of the office’s operations.

Partner at SOM, Colin Koop explained to Dezeen, “When Disney purchased this site, that became the most visible expression of that ongoing change. The phrase that was given to us was that they wanted to ‘stand out by fitting in. The question then was, how do you harmonize with the surroundings and also show Disney’s confident identity as a dynamic 21st-century media company?”
