Ioan Gruffudd has expressed his wish to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise his role as Reed Richards. The Welsh actor is well known for playing the role of Harold Lowe in Titanic and has appeared in several other notable films and movies over the years. However, one of his most memorable roles remains Mister Fantastic in the 2005 movie Fantastic Four.

He later reprises his role in other films. Even after all these years, the actor still wishes to return to the franchise to reprise his role.

Ioan Gruffudd, recently in an interview, spoke about his former role as Reed Richards. The actor explained that he wants to return as Reed Richards in future projects. During the conversation, he further went on to talk about the importance of the character in his life and career.

“I would love to play Mr. Fantastic again. He’s such a big part of my life… If I got invited back, I’d be there even if it was just to make an appearance for a little fleeting blink of an eye. I’d love to be there,” he said.

Perhaps the actor could return to play the role in Avengers: Secret Wars, even though it is less likely. Gruffudd appeared as Reed Richards in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. And years later, Gruffudd’s portrayal is not forgotten, as he shared in the same interview. He spoke about the appreciation and praise he received for his approach to playing the role.

And that is why so many fans have been hoping for the actor to return in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor recently commented on it.

Many fans of the 2000s Fantastic Four movie had been hoping to see the cast, such as Ioan Gruffudd, return to portray the role in Avengers: Doomsday. However, during an interview, the actor said that he will not be appearing in the movie. He added that the new cast will play the role in the new movie.

 “They’ll carry on the story,” he said.

After Gruffudd, other actors took the role, such as John Krasinski, who appeared as Reed Richards in 2022 in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now the role is played by Pedro Pascal, who will appear as Reed Richards in Avengers: Doomsday. As for Gruffudd’s chances to return to portray the role, there is no update as of now
