Democrat odds of ‘blue tsunami’ soar to a record high in latest prediction as Trump makes last-minute scramble: Live updates

Democrats’ odds of taking control of the Senate have climbed to a record high ahead of Election Day, according to prediction platform Kalshi.

The app gives Democrats a 74 percent chance of winning the Senate, the highest it has reached, and a 94 percent chance of taking the House, according to the betting platform as of Monday morning.

President Trump will make a last-ditch effort to appeal to voters today as he delivers his ‘closing arguments’ on the midterms at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.

The president held the final rally of his nationwide, 28-stop midterm campaign yesterday in Salina, Kansas as he sought to shore up Republican support and preserve the party’s congressional majorities.

Ahead of November 3, the president threatened to wield the veto if Democrats gain control, saying he ‘hoped that it won’t be the case,’ but ‘if it is, it’s happened before with many presidents. You have a strong veto and you end up working out deals.’

Trump faces nightmare scenario as latest odds reveal Democrats’ highest-ever chances of seizing power in midterms

Democrats reached their highest-ever odds of seizing control of Congress as traders continue to give them the edge over Republicans just one day before the midterms.

Kalshi gives Democrats a 74 percent chance of winning the Senate, the highest it has reached, and a 94 percent chance of taking the House, according to the betting platform as of Monday morning.

But it’s not all moving in one direction.

Democrats have strengthened their position in some high-profile Senate races, while others have shifted toward Republicans as Election Day approaches.

Republicans currently hold 53 Senate seats compared with 47 for Democrats, and the battle for the upper chamber is expected to hinge on a handful of closely watched contests.

Maricopa County temporarily closes some voting centers, citing power outages

Election officials in Maricopa County said Monday that two polling locations were temporarily closed due to power-related issues.

It was not immediately clear what caused the issues, which officials said impacted polling sites at Paradise Community College and Sunset Canyon School.

The update comes as Maricopa County – home to some 60 percent of voters in Arizona – has remained an epicenter for far-right conspiracy theorists and election deniers, including many who echoed Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Recent conspiracy theories have already began circulating online in the run-up to the November 3 midterms, and Trump, for his part, has chastised the county as ‘very, very dishonest.’

Alaska’s Division of Elections just told reporters that a ‘first batch of election results will come in around 8.45pm-9pm’ local time.

That means the first results of the Last Frontier’s heated Senate battle between GOP incumbent and Democratic hopeful Mary Peltola might come as early as 0.45am Eastern Time.

The $130billion winners of the Iran war: How Big Oil nearly tripled its profits in just six months while ordinary Americans paid the price

More than 50 major oil and gas companies have pocketed a staggering $130 billion in profits during the Iran war – as American motorists are left grappling with soaring gasoline and diesel prices.

The six-month bonanza, covering April through September, was almost three times the $47 billion the companies collectively earned during the same period last year, according to a New York Times analysis.

The eye-watering figures come as millions of drivers face a painful squeeze every time they pull up to the gas station, with fuel costs climbing sharply since the conflict erupted on February 28.

Democrat Haley Stevens’ Jewish fiancé is accused of masterminding her sudden switch to Republican candidate: ‘Something snapped in her’

In a dramatic last–minute twist in Michigan, failed Senate Democrat contender Haley Stevens publicly backed Republican Mike Rogers, flipping on Abdul El–Sayed in the eleventh hour.

Former Governor Jim Blanchard, a close friend and supporter of Stevens, saw her on Friday for dinner – when she still backed El–Sayed.

Something happened between their dinner and her public defection on Sunday. And the ex-governor blames her fiancé, Jason Turkish, a Jewish Democrat.

He had endorsed Rogers last week and began the campaign to sway Haley to his views, according to Blanchard.

‘He was working her over,’ Blanchard said. ‘The way he was saying it was, ‘Everyone is disappointed in you, they did everything they could to help you, and then immediately after you lose the primary, you endorsed him.’

‘Something snapped in her. And it snapped in 24 hours,’ Blanchard said. ‘And I don’t know what.’

Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed sparks backlash with shocking comments on transgender locker rooms in 60 Minutes interview

Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has sparked backlash after dismissing fears over transgender issues in schools, arguing that children can already find everything on their phones.

El-Sayed, a physician running against Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan, was asked about the fight over transgender athletes competing against the opposite sex during an interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday.

The issue has become a lightning rod across the country, with parents raising concerns over safety and shared locker rooms, but El-Sayed insisted it was not a ‘real issue’ for voters.

Trump asks Supreme Court to block 20,000 California ballots, escalating legal feud

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court Monday to temporarily block California from counting the mail in ballots of some 20,000 voters it has alleged are ‘likely noncitizens’ – escalating an extraordinary legal fight just hours before voters head to the ballots.

The emergency request comes after a federal judge rejected the Trump administration’s effort late last month – a ruling that was later upheld by a three-judge panel for the 9th Circuit US Court of Appeals.

Trump officials have repeatedly argued their effort is an attempt to safeguard the election process and crack down on noncitizen voting – despite state audits and other reports that have shown instances of illegal noncitizen voting are incredibly rare.

Critics, meanwhile, have repeatedly argued the efforts are a thinly veiled attempt to federalize the election process – and lay the groundwork for potentially challenging the results of the midterms, in the event of a Democratic sweep.

Magistrate Zia Faruqui says DoJ brought complaint against two ex-FBI officials before midterms

A judge tossed a case against two former senior FBI officials accused of lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop, calling it clear ‘weaponization’ by the Trump administration.

US Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui scolded federal prosecutors for bringing the false statements charges against the former FBI officials – Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides – last month.

Both were charged with one count of allegedly lying to Congress about their roles on the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, or FITF, and ‘about their roles in the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigation,’ according to a statement from US Attorney Jeanine Pirro at the time.

The two former FBI officials were charged by criminal complaint, which means that federal prosecutors had not secured a grand jury indictment in either case.

This week, the Magistrate said that she would not ‘bury my head in the sand’ about the timing of the complaints ahead of the midterms, and would not ‘pretend that I cannot read a calendar.’

Record-breaking ad spending in Texas ahead of midterm Election Day

The US Senate race in Texas has set the record for ad spending, according to AdImpact, with the race seeing nearly $600million worth of campaign ads since the start of 2025.

Backed by $168million from Elon Musk and Democratic State Representative James Talarico’s record-breaking fundraising, it has become the second non-presidential election to see over half a billion dollars in ad spending.

Republicans reportedly splurged $411million on the race while Democrats forked out $182million in the matchup between GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton and Talarico.

President Trump’s closing midterm message will ‘highlight contrast’ between Republican and Democrat agenda

A White House insider told CNN on Monday that President Trump’s closing remarks at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will draw ‘clear contrast’ between Democrat and Republican agenda.

‘The President’s remarks will highlight this Administration’s achievements to make the country safer and wealthier while drawing a clear contrast between Republicans’ commonsense America First agenda and the Democrats’ radical, America last agenda,’ the official told the outlet.

Trump told reporters on Sunday that the chose to deliver the remarks at the Reflecting Pool ‘just to show how beautiful it is,’ after it was marked for renovation by the administration.
